LPI, Inc. Ships 3-Axis Lift System for Welding Applications

LPI has been supplying lift systems to a major electrical components manufacturer for many years, and as their business grows, they continue to call upon LPI to provide specialty lifts for their fabrication process area. The pictured lift was designed for an application that involves positioning a worker to perform heavy welding. To assist them in their task, LPI has designed the operator platform to accommodate both a welding system -- complete with wire feed spool rack -- and room for them to mount their smoke exhaust system. Because the welding system requires an electrical source, it was requested that the lift also be powered from a 480 volt supply.

Guided by a rail system, the three directions of platform movement allow the operator to travel left and right along the entire length of the product, adjust the elevation of the operator platform up and down to work on various sized products, and also the ability to adjust the platform in and out from a home position to work on narrow or wide products. A safety harness attachment point in the platform, in conjunction with special front rail system, allows positioning close enough to the product to inspect welds and remove slag during the welding process.

Custom Lift Makes Widebody Aircraft Access a Snap

This unit was designed and built for one of our clients to reach the center beam area of widebody aircraft to perform routine maintenance tasks. Prior to their purchase of the lifts, the customer would set up a scaffold system to access the landing gear bay, perform about 20 minutes of work and disassemble the scaffolding. The incorporation of the lift reduced the overall process time from 50 minutes to 25 minutes. The roll out extension of the basket allows the operator to move close to their work, but have the lift far enough away from the landing bay doors to avoid damaging them. The lift is a pneumatic/hydraulic powered unit, which makes it inherently safe in the hangar area. The addition of the hose reel trailer allows them to connect to air supply connections in the floor of the hangar, but also use it throughout the entire hangar.

Eau Claire, Wis. – A move to expanded headquarters has been announced by Plank Enterprises, the holding company for LDPI Lighting, a manufacturer of lighting products for industrial and commercial applications; LPI Lift Systems, a manufacturer of personnel lifts and aerial work platforms; Badger Industrial Supply & Equipment, an industrial distributor, and Pro-Cise Machine & Tool, designers and builders of precision manufacturing components.
The move to the 125,000 sq. ft. building at 4404 Anderson Dr., Eau Claire, will expand company’s space for manufacturing, shipping and administration by over 75 percent. Customer Upgrades (14) 20 Year Old Lifts

The lifts have been used on a daily basis to maintain the appearance of their fleet of transit vehicles.
The current condition of the lifts purchased in 1986 is a tribute to the maintenance department and their primary reason for replacement is a modernization project including the upgrade of equipment that now offers features that were not available when the original lifts were manufactured and purchased.

The new lifts will be a direct replacement onto the existing lift rails.
NO structural modifications needed to incorporate the new lifts.

The LPI Lift Systems line of Work-Catch Platforms is designed to provide safe, adjustable fall protection in manufacturing, maintenance and materials handling applications. The stable platform can be easily adjusted in length and height to facilitate your specific work needs. It is large enough to accommodate both workers and materials, helping to minimize excessive movement associated with manual lifting in a working environment and reducing the need for workers to retrieve needed supplies. The Work-Catch Platform is 36" wide and 10' long in its retracted position. When fully extended, the platform ends can add an additional 78" to the overall length of the platform bringing its entire length to 16'-6”. The collapsed platform height of 53" can be adjusted to a maximum raised position of 129" allowing a worker to comfortably work on products up to 16' in height. Platform weight capacity is 1,500 lbs. with a maximum of 300 lbs. weight capacity on the rollout sections.

The LPI Work-Catch Platform system utilizes a standard shop compressed air source (requires 50 SCFM at 90 psi) to operate the air/hydraulic power unit, while standard platform controls allow the operator to move the platform up, down or make emergency stops. The control panel also contains an auxiliary air supply connection that can be used for easy operation of worker tools while on the platform. Added safety features of the LPI Work-Catch Platform include four steel swivel casters, with swivel locks and wheel brakes for maximum stability. A self-closing gate and 43"- high guardrails provide for safer containment when worker occupied. 3 Axis LP5 Pneumatic Lift Added to LPI line

Eau Claire, WI – A versatile pneumatic lift designed for use in harsh duty environments such as chemical wash applications or for blasting media has been added to LPI’s line of lift systems.

The compact unit, called the LP5, occupies minimum floor space and provides a sturdy platform with a lift capacity of 350 lbs. Height of the platform measures 6 inches in the lowered position and reaches between 10 and 15 feet in the raised position. The standard operation platform size is 36” by 32”.

The LP5 is equipped with self-closing gates and convenient controls within easy reach of the operator. The lift positioning hand controls of the Z-axis control up and down movement, while the Y-axis controls extension and retraction of the platform. The X-axis lift positioning foot control governs left and right movement.

The inline filter, regulator and lubricator help condition the supply air providing long, durable power component life. The drive system is equipped with protective covers and devices to limit the amount of blast media entering the mechanical drive components. Emergency stop and auxiliary connections are on the control box, within easy reach of the operator.

Eau Claire , WI – LPI, Inc. Lift Systems has developed a new elevating work table along with an adjustable work platform for economical and versatile use to help facilitate maintenance, material handling and worker positioning.

The platform itself measures only 20” wide while the scissors-type lift can be raised vertically from its lowest height of 10” to as much as 46”, providing for a working height of approximately 10 ft. The unit is available without the optional guardrails, allowing it to be used as a worktable for a variety of tasks. The tabletop surface measures 20” x 66” and can hold up to 1,000 lbs.

The compact size and lightweight design of both LPI’s worktable and work platform enable easy maneuvering in tight places, such as hazardous paint booths or various industrial areas, where space is an issue, eliminating the need for unsafe ladders and scaffolding. The units operate off of a compressed air source (not included), requiring 8 SCFM at 100 psi.

The standard units come stationary, but can be made into portable units with the addition of optional casters and T-bar handle. Other options such as rail-guided systems are also available.

New Curved Rail Scissors Platform Provides Total Product Access

For low volume paint operations where justification of multiple lifts is not a reality, the curved rail guided scissors lift platform is a viable option. This pneumatic / hydraulic powered personnel lift can be used to access both sides and ends of a product as it travels on the floor guide rail. In addition the unit can be rolled off the guide rail and used as a stationary scissors platform for maintenance and fabrication. Tow Behind: Tow Work Platform Assists Engine Maintenance

This lift platform was designed and built for a client to do engine maintenance work on DC9 aircraft. The tow behind unit was designed to be towed behind a standard tug and incorporates locking casters to fix it in place for work. The guardrails were designed to be folded down at the midrail, which allows the platform to roll under the engine housing from any direction. The pneumatic/hydraulic power unit makes the lift platform suitable for use throughout the entire hangar area.

The lateral drive personnel lift improves productivity by providing quick, precise and safe access to large equipment, confined spaces and work areas.
The operator can maneuver into places that standard scissor lifts can't reach.

The standard drive system uses front wheels to drive and steer for minimum turning radius. The optional lateral drive mode, when selected, turns all four wheels 90 degrees, enabling entire unit to drive sideways. Power source is 24V DC with eight six-volt batteries and automatic 50A charger. Operator platform is welded steel construction with 42" guardrails and lanyard tie off points in safety plate floor for operator safety. Parts Picking Made Easy

LPI, Inc., manufacturer of standard and custom personnel lifts, material handling equipment and work platforms in Eau Claire, WI, has an electrically powered material handling parts picking lift which greatly minimizes the time required to get the product from the rack to the shipping dock. The parts picker travels the lengths of the aisleway between racks which are 25 ft. high, raising and lowering the platform to a desired picking location. The 10 ft. x 16 ft. platform, which features easy one-person operation, is designed for a large product load of 2,500 lbs. with shelving on the platform. Two motors are synchronized to keep the platform level at all times. Several safety features are built in. Controls provide smooth speed adjustment for acceleration and deceleration.
