Pneumatic Boom Lift
Painting the tail sections of Air Force C-5 aircraft was no easy task, that is -- until LPI®'s pneumatic/hydraulic telescoping boom lift with self-leveling operator platform was designed. LPI took a standard industrial boom lift that had been powered by a combustion engine and converted it to run on air. With other modifications this unit was converted to meet the requirements for work in an aircraft paint hangar.
Based on a standard industrial boom lift the platform has a high vertical reach, and extends out laterally from the base as well. The rear wheel drive, front steerable unit can be operated from either control station located in the operator basket or those located on the base of the unit. Cycle time is decreased dramatically, worker safety is enhanced and quality improved.
